The following mp3 audio clips are from an informal gathering with
two experienced Kara grief counselors who are currently living with
cancer. During the program, Jim Mulvaney (Kara's Director of Programs)
and Shelly Gillan (Kara's Director of Client Services) shared about
their own experiences, how they are dealing with challenges of living
with cancer, what they have learned and what has helped them. This
candid sharing was from a deeply personal perspective and gave each
participant an opportunity to reflect on their own experience of
dealing with grief, a life threatening illness, and/or supporting
a loved one doing so.
The event was facilitated by Jim Bronson, Kara's Director of Community
Outreach and Education, and sponsored by Kara and the Insight Meditation
Center in Redwood City, CA.

Kara is the Gothic root of the word "care."
It means to reach out, to care, to lament, to grieve with.
