Summary
A guidebook to how to work through a loss. The book is quick to
point out that losses are natural but it is how we go about healing
ourselves that can make it easier. The book also compares a loss
to a cut, some are deeper and bigger than others but they all hurt.
Mixed within the book are quotes from famous figures as well as
children. The book separates losses into Big, Not-So-Big and Small
losses. Losses like a death of a loved one that leave you with a
great sense of loss are considered a big loss. A "Not-So-Big
Loss" is one that may be hard to accept like changing schools
or the end of a relationship. A "Small Loss" is something
that is annoying or frustrating like not getting into a class or
losing a possession. There are many different types of losses and
people may handle them differently. The book also suggests making
a loss chart, labeling it according to the size of the loss and
noting what changed and the feelings you had. The book compares
the feelings brought up with grief as a merry-go-round, a whirlwind
of different feelings and emotions that can change quickly.

What the Reviewer Liked
I thought this was an excellent book. I can see it being very helpful
during a time of need and even years after. It encourages one to
look at their own losses and reflect.
