Nurses, physicians, social workers, therapists and other professional
caregivers have a unique set of challenges in dealing with grief.
They often must silently handle their own, natural responses to
tragedy and loss, while supporting clients or patients through theirs.
Where do professional caregivers go to do their own processing and
get their own support?
Karas Professional Caregivers Support Group affords these
professionals a safe and nurturing environment to do peer-supported
grief work. It is also a place to bring questions and concerns about
grief and how to help others through tragedy and loss. There is
no fee for the group; donations are gratefully accepted.
Time & Location
Group sessions are located in the Stanford University area on the
1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of each month from 7 to 9 PM. The
next 8-week group will start September 1, 2010.
Registration
Those interested in participating in the next eight sessions may
complete this application
form and return it to the Kara office. An initial interview
is required prior to the start of the group. Applicants who are
accepted will receive an email confirmation with the location and
a map. For the safety and comfort of group members, participants
are asked to attend sessions consistently and promptly.

Kara is the Gothic root of the word "care."
It means to reach out, to care, to lament, to grieve with.
