A young Kara client expresses her gratitude to our generous donors.
How You Can Help
Kara does not charge clients a fee for its services. With almost
half of its funding coming from individuals, Kara is dependent on
the generosity of the community for financial support.

In 2007, Kara increased the number of individuals served by 23%
and increased its Community Outreach and Education activity by 26%.
We expect that this level of growth in clients served will continue.
To meet this growth in demand, Kara must continue to grow its annual
revenue.
Please make a generous gift to Kara to help ensure Kara will be
there in the future to help those who are grieving or anticipating
a death. You can donate to Kara using any of the options below.

Donate To Kara As You Shop
There are four ways to make simple, painless donations to Kara
as you shop:
- Follow this link to Amazon.com,
and when you make a purchase, Amazon will donate a percentage
to Kara through the Amazon Associates program.
- Kara also participates in eScrip. Each time you use your
credit card at a participating merchant, such as Safeway, Draeger's
Market and Eddie Bauer, a portion of your purchase is automatically
donated to Kara. To sign up for eScrip, you can visit eScrip.com
or call them at 1-800-592-0942. You will need your credit
and debit card numbers, as well as Kara's eScrip ID #139241707
in order to register. Click HERE
to find a list of currently participating merchants at eScrip.com.
- You can shop online at over 300 merchants and have a donation
made to Kara if you shop via the iGive web site. First,
you visit iGive.com
to register. Then when you are ready to shop, you follow the link
from the iGive site to the desired merchant - Barnes and
Noble, Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, Land's End, SmarterKids, Dell Computer,
and many more. If you make a purchase, the merchant pays a commission
to Kara. iGive takes care of the details, all you need
to do is shop.
- Mention Kara when shopping at Keplers bookstore in Menlo
Park. They will record your sales transaction and then make a
donation back to Kara.
Donate Your Car
Thinking of selling or trading in that old car, boat or RV? Why
not donate it instead? Kara will accept your old vehicle, while
you get the benefit of a tax-deductible charitable donation. When
you donate your vehicle to Kara, you:
- Avoid all the headaches of selling a used car: no expensive
want ads, no phone calls, no appointments to show the car and
no price haggling
- Avoid confusing Department of Motor Vehicles paperwork and smog
hassles
- Get free vehicle pick-up, whether the car is running or not
(some restrictions apply)
- Receive all the necessary documentation for your lawful IRS
tax deduction.
Your vehicle may be worth even more to you as a charitable contribution
than it would be if you sold it.
We take away the problems when we take your vehicle. You can cancel
your insurance the same day and keep your license plates. Youll
be spared the ordeal of selling your vehicle. And most importantly,
youll make a valuable contribution to Kara.
Corporate Donations
Kara's services are of great value to corporations and their employees.
Our work allows your employees to get back on track sooner, while
still having an outlet to work on their grief. We can provide crisis
support for co-workers when an employee dies, and we are available
to be part of an Employee Assistance Program.
Corporations can also make direct donations or become a sponsor
of a Kara event, such as the annual Candelight Service.
